Lake Mungo, New South Wales. There are a series of large, relic Pleistocene lake beds. The extended, crescent shaped sand ridges are called lunettes. In the Pleistocene, when these lakes contained water, people lived on the lunettes, fished and hunted near the lakes and occasionally buried their dead in the soft sand. Animal reamins on the sand.
