Scanning moths
Alfred University technical specialist Mark Klingensmith uses forceps to place tiny weights on the wings of specimens as he prepares to scan them. The resolution of the scanner is so high that a single moth can take 20 minutes to scan. Images of the moths can be enlarged to 2700 percent, creating a 400 megabyte file.
